👟 Golden Boot? ⚽ Golden Ball? 🧤 Golden Glove? 👶🏻 Young Player award? These are just some of the awards FIFA will hand out by the end of the 2026 World Cup. But ten days into the tournament, we at Similarweb can already identify two winners: Kalshi and Polymarket, which have topped the U.S. App Store's Finance category since kickoff. Historically, both prediction market platforms have reached peak popularity during U.S. political events and major geopolitical developments. The World Cup is showing that they can break through during a global sporting event as well.

Rand Fishkin recently published an insightful report on zero-click searches using Similarweb data. We followed up with a broader view, looking at six different countries. Here's Rand's key takeaways: 🇬🇧 United Kingdom – The highest rate of zero-click searches in our analysis, followed by the United States. 🇫🇷 France – Search sessions are more likely to end without a click or another search, suggesting particularly efficient search behavior. 🇨🇦 Canada – Right in the middle of the pack for clicks and subsequent searches. 🇮🇹 Italy – Similar to Canada, sitting close to the median across key metrics. 🇩🇪 Germany – The lowest rate of zero-click searches and the highest share of searches that still result in a click. One possible explanation is the EU's restrictions and penalties related to Google's self-preferencing behavior. It's also possible that cultural factors, language differences, or variations in Google's local search experience play a role. Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/dxYVXWiS

If the World Cup proves one thing, it's that people across countries and continents connect over football... and QLED & OLED TVs... and projectors... and, of course, soccer gear. Beer, however, is a different story. Our latest Retail Intelligence data shows that while Samsung Electronics, Seiko Epson Corporation, and adidas lead their respective categories across Mexico, the UK, Germany, and the US, beer preferences remain distinctly local. Each major World Cup market has its own favorite brand. Stay on top of how major events shape online shopping behavior with Similarweb's Retail Intelligence: https://lnkd.in/d63SsSvf

Without data, it's just an opinion.   In this clip, Andrea Girardello, VP of App Intelligence at Similarweb, explains to Peggy Anne Salz what it takes to actually defend your strategy: active user and session data, audience data that tells you which category and age group your best users sit in, and cross-usage between apps — including a pattern where an app growing in one industry pushes complementary apps up with it.   From the App Talks interview "Why app store data alone is no longer enough", recorded at Business of Apps London.   Watch the full interview: https://lnkd.in/gDNve5NJ   #AppMarketing #UserAcquisition #AppAnalytics #MobileMarketing #DataDriven
