Cruising solo, an ever-growing trend for both cruisers seeking serious me-time and those looking for camaraderie, has become far more enriching, social, relaxing, and quite simply, just more fun over the last couple years. And while you could cruise solo on any line of choice, some are better at catering to single voyagers seeking the same joys and rejuvenation that couples and groups enjoy. These lines organize singles cocktail parties and dinners; some even provide hosts for dance classes and evening soirees so everyone can take a spin around the floor. Such single-minded cruise lines may also offer more solo staterooms and reduced or waived single-supplement charges on select voyages. Here, some of the finest lines for sailing solo without feeling alone.
Celebrity Cruises
On Celebrity ships, the crew ensures singles feel comfortable from embarkation day onward, with a solo traveler gathering and orientation on the first day that often leads to vibing singles dining together throughout the voyage. Even if a day-one orientation isn't your thing, thanks to Celebrity’s vast array of daily classes—with activities ranging from mixology and yoga to gaming—it’s easy to connect with like-minded travelers around the ship.
On Edge Series ships, solo cabins are particularly notable, as single Infinite Veranda staterooms are offered. Push a button and the entire living space morphs into a veranda, bringing the fresh sea air in for the ultimate private hangout. Group shore excursions are also available for all mobility levels.
Crystal
Crystal has long placed single cruisers at the forefront and that tradition continues today under A&K Travel Group's newer ownership. Pre-dinner cocktail parties allow singles to meet and engage with others. Each night, a solos table is offered at a different restaurant so passengers can dine with other singles and try every specialty dining venue. Crystal also offers four ambassador hosts on each voyage. These gentlemen host pre-dinner festivities, singles dinner tables, and partner with singles at dance classes (usually Latin ballroom) and for evening dancing. (I have observed several and can vouch for their lightness of feet.) Also of note: Crystal is offering reduced single supplement on select voyages depending upon the suite category this year and into 2027.
Aurora Expeditions
Solo travelers comprise a significant portion of Aurora Expeditions passengers (some 26%, on average), creating a naturally welcoming and social ambiance. Its small vessels only carry between 120 and 154 passengers, encouraging interaction between adventure-minded travelers who share a passion for exploration. Expedition outings, always small-group, encourage friendships, too. Camaraderie is also shared at the bar and at dinner, where open seating allows everyone to join anyone. Aurora Expeditions also supports solo cruisers with dedicated options, such as 10 solo cabins per sailing fleet-wide, and a cabin-share program to match same-gender singles, with the single supplement waived if no suitable match is secured. Those looking for an especially adventurous itinerary will be happy to know the single supplement is waived on select Arctic & Beyond voyages in 2026.
Silversea
This ultra-luxury cruise line possesses a devoted following of single cruisers, due in good part to its attentive crew. The all-suite ships offer butlers for every passenger and they excel at pampering guests. Solo travelers might ask their butlers for assistance securing card game players, shore outing buddies, or tablemates for dinner. With 24-hour suite service provided course-by-course, singles can also enjoy dining pleasures while reading a can’t-put-down book, watching a streamed movie, or simply savoring the sunset.
That said, making friends on board is a breeze, due to the ships’ small sizes (passenger capacity from 100 to 728). I’ve found Silversea cruisers to be a social lot, happily making new acquaintances in bars and lounges pre-and- post-dinner. On select ships and voyages (some classic ocean liners, including Europe, Asia, and North America sails), hosts are available as dance partners, dinner companions, or simply for stimulating conversations. Silversea regularly updates its voyages, with new sailings available with reduced single supplements.
Virgin Voyages
Adult-only Virgin Voyages’ four ships deliver vibrant onboard experiences embracing single cruisers like few others. In fact, this line embraces everyone, with an atmosphere actively designed to be inclusive of LGBTQI+ and BIPOC communities. “Solo sailors,” as Virgin dubs them, jump immediately into the swing of things, with the first meetup typically scheduled on the voyage’s first day. The get-together is hosted by a Happenings cast member (part of the group that guides ship activities) skilled at ice-breaking, often leading to a group dinner. Popular pub crawls (Grog Walks) lure singles, as does Korean BBQ restaurant Gunbae, where communal dining and fun drinking games rule. As for accommodations, Virgin Voyages offers 46 solo cabins, both inside and ocean view.
AmaWaterways
This riverboat line warmly welcomes singles, with crew specially trained to ensure these travelers always feel included. AmaWaterways frequently waives or reduces single supplement fees on all vessels in Europe, Asia, and Colombia. Some ships, like AmaCello, AmaDante, and AmaLyra, offer single-occupancy cabins replete with French balconies. On embarkation day, solo travelers are invited to a private guided ship tour and officer-led wheelhouse tour, and a welcome cocktail reception to meet fellow voyagers. Other invites come along, too, such as additional cocktail gatherings or a captain’s table dinner. Open-seating dining also encourages mingling, with one table in the restaurant always set for five.
Oceania Cruises
Recently converted to an adults-only luxury cruise line, Oceania Cruises ensures single voyagers feel at home on day one. The daily Currents newsletter lists singles gathering details, including cocktail receptions and group dining tables. Single staterooms abound on all ships, thanks to makeovers that began in 2022. The newer Oceania Vista and Oceania Allura offer concierge-level single accommodations; these feature larger verandas and concierge lounge access (the latter another way to meet fellow voyagers). On select voyages and stateroom categories, Oceania Cruises offers reduced single supplements down to as little as 0%.
