Prerequisites

• I searched for any existing report about this bug to avoid opening a duplicate.
• I can reproduce this bug in a new, unmodified web browser profile with Dark Reader installed as the only extension.
• I understand I need to use the Broken Website Report template if this bug I am reporting occurs on a single website.

Bug Description

In macOS 15.1 and 15.2, when system appearance theme timer is done and Auto enable Dark Reader for Safari make website’s performance awful. Easy to make the Safari no response and no way to reload except close the tab.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Set Dark Reader Auto change.
2. Set macOS appearance theme auto change timer.
3. Wait until System changes to dark mode and trigger Dark Reader changes current Gmail pages on Safari.
4. Webpages becomes very slow until I tune off Dark Reader or change appearance theme to light mode.

Expected Behavior

Keep Dark Reader performance good on Safari no matter light or dark mode of system appearance.

Actual Behavior

Dark Reader performance slow on Safari when system appearance auto changes to dark mode.
