It's a big misunderstanding. You can't add it directly. Since Matter only became available through a firmware update, there's no built-in Matter code to allow you to add it to Home Assistant first.

If you first add it using the Eve app, it automatically gets added to HomeKit, which locks it. From that point on, even in pairing mode, you can't add it via Matter after entering the code. In the end, it will say that pairing is not possible…
