I this an image explains the idea better than anything else:

• Clicking on them would flip their value.
• Placing the cursor after a toggle and pressing DEL would delete it.
• There should be a way to turn the feature on or off.

With the rise of terminal-based editors, there's no doubt in my mind that the only way for GUI editors to stay ahead is to use every trick available in the pixelated world.
