They talked about why 2025 may be the most significant year in tech history, how AI is reshaping the future of product managers, designers, and engineers, and what founders need to understand about building in this moment—from where moats actually exist in AI to what the most AI-native companies are doing differently to the skills Marc is teaching his own kids to thrive in what comes next.   Resources: Follow Marc Andreessen on X: https://twitter.com/pmarca Follow Lenny Rachitsky on X: https://twitter.com/lennysan Check out Lenny’s Podcast: https://www.lennysnewsletter.com/podcast   Stay Updated: If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to like, subscribe, and share with your friends! Marc Andreessen: The real AI boom hasn’t even started yet

Marc Andreessen is a founder, investor, and co-founder of Netscape, as well as co-founder of the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). In this conversation, we dig into why we’re living through a unique and one of the most incredible times in history, and what comes next. We discuss: 1. Why AI is arriving at the perfect moment to counter demographic collapse and declining productivity 2. How Marc has raised his 10-year-old kid to thrive in an AI-driven world 3. What’s actually going to happen with AI and jobs (spoiler: he thinks the panic is “totally off base”) 4. The “Mexican standoff” that’s happening between product managers, designers, and engineers 5. Why you should still learn to code (even with AI) 6. How to develop an “E-shaped” career that combines multiple skills, with AI as a force multiplier 7. The career advice he keeps coming back to (“Don’t be fungible”) 8. How AI can democratize one-on-one tutoring, potentially transforming education 9. • The NFL (2026 Update)

    7

    The NFL (2026 Update)

The NFL is nearly synonymous with America today. Practically nothing is more quintessentially and universally American than tuning in every Sunday (and Monday, and Thursday… and sometimes Saturdays and holidays too) to watch the world’s most beautiful ballet of violence. It generates the most revenue of any sports league globally and sets new records for team valuations each year. But it wasn’t always this way. The history of the NFL mirrors America’s own development: scrappy small-town teams rode the successive growth waves of the automobile, TV, the Internet and social media to grow larger than the even the founders’ wildest dreams. Whether you watch football or not, the NFL is one incredible business story, and one that we’ve taken more lessons from over the years for Acquired itself than perhaps any other episode we’ve made. Note: This is a remastered release of our original January 2023 episode, updated to today's Acquired production standards. It also features a full hour+ followup section at the end covering the seismic shifts in the NFL’s business since the original episode’s release. Much has happened in those three years: Taylor Swift entered the league (via merger 🙂), streaming went mainstream (and took over Thanksgiving and Christmas), sports gambling exploded from 46 million to 76 million bettors, and — in perhaps the most surprising development — private equity finally stormed the gates of the NFL. Oh, and average franchise valuations grew by 60% from $4.5 billion to over $7 billion. Communist capitalism is alive and well! We're also releasing this episode in advance of Super Bowl LX here in San Francisco, where Acquired is hosting the NFL’s inaugural Super Bowl Innovation Summit! Forbidden Controller Lore [Real] - Isaac Sheff & Christopher Goes

Is interop finally solved? In this episode of Deeply Intents I chat with Isaac Sheff (Senior Research Scientist) and Christopher Goes (o-founder) of Heliax about the Anoma protocol and explore how Anoma thinks about interop. In particular we discuss Isaac's research on Controllers [the authoritative state machine that orders transactions for a resource, preventing double-spends]. We begin the episode discussing Isaac's background as a consensus researcher and his prior work on Heterogeneous Paxos. We then dive into controllers and compare them to IBC, and discuss we you need different trust models for blockchains, databases, and computers. Thereafter the episode gets quite technical as we discuss the nuances of Anoma's resource model, controller tags, and next concepts called shared & causal resource history. Next we explore how controllers utilize ZK proofs for tag reduction and attestation. Finally we discuss the novel emergency override condition which one can think of as a generalization of Plasma (Ethereum), how controllers unlock private bridging, and the affordances they provide application builders who want to build distributed applications. Timestamps (00:00) - Consensus researchers (04:26) - What are controllers? (08:50) - Product perspective and revisiting IBC (12:52) - Why you need different trust models (19:24) - Unbundling ordering, execution & storage (24:30) - The Anoma state model is based on resources (29:03) - Controller Tags and double spends (34:34) - Shared and Causal Resource History (36:53) - Controllers are different than IBC (40:13) - You get interop for free (43:05) - Controllers love ZK (47:34) - Controllers and trust assumptions (50:45) - Emergency override condition (EOC) (56:10) - Generalization of Plasma (58:50) - Controller interop with existing EVM chains (1:03:09) - Intents in Ethereum (1:04:22) - Private bridging (1:06:33) - Affordances for application designers (1:10:17) - Blockchains can be useful for more than finance DisclaimerNothing in this episode should be interpreted as financial, technical, or legal advice.
