About us
Launched in 2006, Amazon Web Services (AWS) began exposing key infrastructure services to businesses in the form of web services -- now widely known as cloud computing. The ultimate benefit of cloud computing, and AWS, is the ability to leverage a new business model and turn capital infrastructure expenses into variable costs. Businesses no longer need to plan and procure servers and other IT resources weeks or months in advance. Using AWS, businesses can take advantage of Amazon's expertise and economies of scale to access resources when their business needs them, delivering results faster and at a lower cost. Today, Amazon Web Services provides a highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure platform in the cloud that powers hundreds of thousands of businesses in 190 countries around the world. With data center locations in the U.S., Europe, Singapore, and Japan, customers across all industries are taking advantage of our low cost, elastic, open and flexible, secure platform.

Good conversation with CNBC’s Jon Fortt today about customer demand, AI investment, and where we see Amazon Web Services (AWS) heading. We reported 24% year-over-year growth last quarter on a $142B run rate — the fastest pace we’ve seen in 13 quarters. That growth reflects broad-based demand across hundreds of thousands of customers moving workloads to the cloud, putting their data on AWS, and layering AI on top to drive real business value. We’re investing accordingly. The planned capex isn’t about one moment — it’s about building the infrastructure customers need for the long term. We’re incredibly bullish on AWS growth over the next few years. Thanks for the conversation, Jon. https://lnkd.in/gXFh9RSD

Q4 closed out a year of continued customer adoption and scaling across Amazon Web Services (AWS). We saw growth accelerate to 24% — the fastest in 13 quarters — as more customers moved AI into production. Some of what we saw this quarter: ▪️ Trainium and Graviton reached a combined $10 billion+ annual revenue run rate, growing at triple digits YoY. Trainium2 powers the majority of inference on Bedrock, and Trainium3 is already in production. ▪️ We launched Nova Forge at re:Invent — a world first — so customers can build customized foundation models with their own data. We also introduced frontier agents, Graviton5, and Trainium3 GA. ▪️ Developers are leaning in: Kiro grew 150%+ QoQ, and the AgentCore SDK has been downloaded over 5 million times since preview. ▪️ AWS Transform has helped customers save over 1 million hours of manual effort and analyze 1.8 billion lines of code since GA in May. ▪️ We added more than 1GW of data center capacity in Q4 alone and signed new agreements with OpenAI, Visa, the National Basketball Association (NBA), BlackRock, the United States Air Force, and many more. Thanks to the AWS team, our partners, and our customers around the world. Looking ahead to what we’ll continue building together. https://lnkd.in/geXPGYf9

Mai-Lan Tomsen Bukovec, VP of Data and Analytics at AWS, shares how Amazon S3 operates at extreme scale, what it takes to design for durability and availability across millions of servers, and how AWS approaches correctness using formal methods.
The story of S3 is the story of data, which has been written by customers and built by a team that cares deeply about every byte. Great talking to Gergely Orosz from The Pragmatic Engineer newsletter and podcast about the ins and outs of the evolution of S3. https://lnkd.in/gfMY34kX
