What's New in WebLogic Remote Console 3.0.0

WebLogic Remote Console 3.x is a major update that includes significant changes from the previous release. We're releasing 3.0.0 now as a technical preview so you can explore the changes and let us know what you think. The production version of 3.x will be released concurrently with a future Patch Set Update (PSU) of WebLogic Server.

Changes in WebLogic Remote Console 3.x

• Enhanced Project management: Project management has been moved out of the File menu into its own dedicated page where you can add, edit, and delete projects and their constituent providers.

• Improved Provider management: The Providers drawer has been re-imagined as a dedicated page where you can see all of the providers (and their details) in a project at a glance. You can add, edit, delete, and sort providers from this page.

• Changes to Change Management:

  • Improved Shopping Cart: Pending changes are now visible in a dialog box where you can see where the change was made and the old and new values.
  • Change indicators: Configurations with non-default values are now marked by a green bar to the left of the field. Previously, changes were indicated by a black outline.
  • Unsaved changes: WebLogic Remote Console no longer warns you when you try to leave a page that has unsaved changes. Previously, WebLogic Remote Console would ask you to confirm whether to save or discard your changes before letting you navigate away.

• Clearer and sharper icons: Icons throughout WebLogic Remote Console have been updated to more clearly convey their functions.

  • Rearranged tool bar icons: Tool bar icons have been shifted around to better group functionality and workflow.

• New-ish Field Settings button: 🎯 This button allows for more granular editing of field values. It opens a separate dialog box where you can edit values, review lengthy field values, or revert existing values to their default values (that is, "unset" them). The Field Settings button will be familiar to users who managed WDT model files in WebLogic Remote Console.

• Consolidated Navigation Tree: The NavStrip and Navigation Tree have been combined into a single panel, allowing you to switch between perspectives more intuitively.

• More sophisticated Breadcrumb navigation: Move up, down, and across nodes of WebLogic Remote Console. Use the breadcrumb trail to not only help you understand your position within the domain, but to move through it.

  Each breadcrumb in the trail is clickable so you can move up levels in the hierarchy, or you can click the dropdown menu beside the final breadcrumb (aka the current page) to jump to its child nodes or to its related pages in different perspectives.

What's New in WebLogic Remote Console 2.4.18

• Support for WebLogic Server 15.1.1.0.0!
• Improved log file download behavior. You can now specify date ranges and set max record limits.
• Improved usability when re-ordering security providers.
• Improved credential storage management to allow the clearing of previously stored credentials.
• Added support for administrators to take the edit lock from another user.
• Misc. accessibility fixes.
• Misc. updates to WebLogic MBeans and their attributes for WebLogic Server 12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, and 14.1.2.0.0.

Bug Fixes

• Removed extraneous write permissions from files in Linux Debian installer. Addresses #90.
• Fixed issue that limited JSON log file downloads to 400 records.
• Fixed bug that discarded unsaved updates to field values if further changes were made to the page using modal dialog boxes.

Deprecations

• The SAML 1.1 Identity Assertion provider was removed from the list of available Authentication providers. Note that support for SAML 1.1 was deprecated in WebLogic Server 14.1.2.0.0 and removed entirely in WebLogic Server 15.1.1.0.0.
• Support for Mac computers with an Intel processor is deprecated in WebLogic Remote Console 2.4.18 and may be removed in a future release.

What's New in WebLogic Remote Console 2.4.17

• Added support for whole server migration, migration of WebLogic services, including JMS-related services, JTA Transaction Recovery Services, and user-defined Singleton services.
• Added ability to specify the security model when installing applications.
• Added support for importing and exporting security data. Addresses #79.
• Added support for configuring custom security providers.
• Added support for viewing JMS message details.
• Added support for configuring JMX security policies.
• Added bookmark functionality to save frequently visited pages in the UI. Addresses #12.

Bug Fixes

• Added support for two-way SSL/TLS connections to Desktop WebLogic Remote Console. You can configure the JDK identity keystore for two-way SSL/TLS connections to WebLogic Server.
• Added a Log Out option to Hosted WebLogic Remote Console that disconnects from the application and returns user to the sign in page.
• Added support for creating custom security providers.
• Added support for creating certificate registries.
• Added support for configuring logging levels (using java.util.logging) for Desktop WebLogic Remote Console. For logging in Hosted WebLogic Remote Console, use platform loggers instead.
• Added support for changing the language of the console interface separately from the operating system. Addresses 67.
• Added option (in Preferences menu) to disable the automatic check for updates. Addresses 75.
