Gargany Marston Vale MCP

Bit of a grey dull day, I started at Marston Vale MCP and got some good views of the male Gargany, also saw Cettis Warbler and 2 Beardies on the same pond adjacent to the road leading to the car park. I then moved on to Lidlington where I bombed out on the Lady Amherst but did get a very brief glimpse of a Firecrest at the bottom of the track near the pond, once again it was far too quick for the camera how frustrating! On the way home I popped into Eversholt, but sadly no sign of the LSW, when I got back to Leighton Buzzard I got some lovely views of the Blackcap and Song Thrush in the garden after the ivy berries.

Happy Easter Everybody

Dunstable Sewage Works Sunday 7th July 2013

What a lovely day weather wise in fact probably too hot at 28 deg! Had a great start to the day on the photography front, with some nice shots of Swift, Blackbird and Goldfinch in the garden early this morning before moving on to the Dunstable Sewage Works for a brief visit today as it was the first Sunday of the month.

Things were quite active at DSW this morning with lots of Sedge, Willow & Reed Warblers, Reed Bunting, Pied Wagtail, Dunnock, Wren, Blackcap, Canada Geese, Coot, Moorhen, Swift, House Martin, Buzzard, Mallard & Tufted Ducks, Magpie, Green Sandpiper, Common Tern, Black Headed Gulls and Heron amongst others, many with young by their sides.

I was treated to a blackcap singing in the car park on arrival, and on my travels around the site spotted all the above. Got some nice sequence shots of a Common Tern scanning the pond for a meal, it eventually dived and got the fish but I missed the important bit as usual?

Leighton Buzzard Garden today 18-01-2013

On a very snowy day in Leighton Buzzard took a few quick shots of the various visitors to the feeders this afternoon. Lots of Fieldfare today with the bad weather, and a male blackcap, I have previously seen the female quite a bit over the past few weeks, but not the male until today. I believe from recent publications that the blackcaps are likely to be non native migrants?

Another Putnoe Street Blackcap

Male Blackcap 16th January.
The Female shown in the previous post was still present the day before.

Blue Tit 16th January

Goldcrest 15th January.
Unfortunately the female Blackcap never stayed quite long enough for the camera

Putnoe Street Blackcap

14th January.
Blackcap, taken through the study window.

10th January.
A Robin on the same feeder, but taken standing only a few feet from the bird - it had emerged from cover before the feeder was even hung up and was quite unconcerned by my presence. Ray Roche

Some visitors to our Clifton Garden so far this year

All of these images were taken through the closed window i.e. through glass, the Goldcrest also with flash as the light was poor. I have seen Goldcrests here sporadically between 3 Dec 09 and 11 Jan 10 feeding at dusk among the ivy.

More Birds from my Clifton garden

A single Tree Sparrow visited my garden again today. It was not easy to get an angle avoiding intrusive branches etc and these were taken through the window. At leat it proves it was there!

Blackcap is a regularly overwintering species here though this year I have only seen a female.
